Experts say focus should be on both physical security and the mental well-being of students

In the aftermath of the school shooting deaths at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., many public officials have refocused their attention on ways to improve security at schools and universities. In Oklahoma, the Commission on School Security has met for the first time, The Daily Oklahoman reports, and spent the entire meeting listening to experts in the fields of school security, education, mental health and law enforcement. The experts say bolstering school safety will require attention to both the physical security and mental well-being of students.
