ROTC program returns to City University of New York

The City University of New York is holding a ceremony today to welcome the Army R.O.T.C. back to campus after more than 40 years. The New York Times reports that anti-war sentiment, culminating after students at Kent State University were killed by National Guard soldiers in 1970, led to a sharp decline in R.O.T.C. registration at the City College, and the the faculty senate subsequently recommended removing it from campus.
