Resource officer program halted after accidental gun discharge

No one was injured at Highland High School in Highland, N.Y., when officer's gun discharged in a hallway.

The Highland (N.Y.) Central School District's resource officer program has been put on hold after a police officer's gun discharged a shot in a hallway while classes were in session at Highland High School. The Daily Freeman reports that the officer, a retired New Paltz policeman who now works as a part-time officer for the town of Lloyd, has been placed on leave while officials investigate the incident. No was was injured in the incident. The officer has been the resource officer at Highland High School since early 2013.
