Report suggests University of Texas could increase revenue by $490 million

The University of Texas could generate as much as $490 million in the next 10 years by consolidating its purchasing systems, selling excess electrical power, charging students more for room and board, and undertaking other measures that could cut costs or increase revenues. The Austin American-Statesman says those recommendations were contained in a report on the university’s administrative operations by a 13-member panel of business leaders. University President Bill Powers, who established the panel, endorsed the objectives and direction of the report and says university officials will develop a plan to act on the recommendations.
