N.Y. school district struggles to close multi-million dollar budget gap

The Niagara Falls City School District is scrambling to close a $6.5 million budget shortfall. The school district insists that it will not turn to taxpayers to close the gap, which is a result of declining revenues and contractual obligations, according to the Niagara Gazette. The district plans to use $2 million of its $2.5 million savings, but has yet to figure out how it will eliminate the outstanding $4.5 million.
