Tioga (N.D.) School Superintendent D’Wayne Johnston has resigned after admitting that he brought a handgun to school in response to perceived threats from a student. The Grand Forks Herald reports that Johnston said he brought a concealed weapon to school Oct. 2 after being threatened by a student who had demonstrated behavioral issues in the past. Johnston submitted his resignation effective June 30, at the end of his contract. School board President Mark Schmidt says Johnston’s decision to resign was his own and not prompted by board members.
