Miami board approves plan to provide all students with digital devices

The Miami school district says every one of its 350,000 students will have access to a digital device by 2015. The Miami Herald says board members have approved a proposal by Superintendent Alberto Carvalho to lease more than 100,000 devices. The $63 million initiative aims to provide devices such as laptops or tablets for students who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford them. The initiative would combine district-provided hardware with its bring-your-own-device policy that allows students to tote their own computers and tablets to class.
