Merged Memphis-Shelby County school board approves its first budget

Video from WREG-TV: The merged Memphis-Shelby County school board has approved a $1.187 billion budget that includes a $30 million gap. Board members hope county tax dollars will cover the funding shortfall. The spending plan calls for less than the two districts spent the previous year and required significant cuts that created fierce debates among the 23 board members over the last several months.
