Call for audit comes after complaints that university underreports incidents of sexual violence on campus

California officials will begin an evaluation of policies at the University of California, Berkeley, regarding sexual assault. The Daily Californian reports that legislators called for the audit of the university's compliance with Title IX following complaints that the campus’s response to cases of sexual violence has been inadequate. The review follows allegations by nine Berkeley students that the university mishandled sexual assault cases. The students asserted that campus administrators discouraged them from reporting the incidents to authorities and underreported incidents of sexual violence on campus.
