Houston board rejects bids for high school property

July 19, 2013
Catholic school and investment group submitted competing bids, but Houston board says both parties violated district's protocol for bids.

Video from KRTK-TV: A potential sale of a Houston public high school has fallen apart, and the district says it's because the bidders didn't follow the rules. An adjacent Catholic school, St. Thomas High, and an investment group that owns neighboring apartments each bid on the 11-acre-site, but the Houston school board rejected both proposals because the parties violated the district's "code of silence" policy by publicly discussing and advocating for their bids. The campus houses the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, but the district plans to move the program to a new site.
