Finance board rejects renovation plan for East Hampton, Conn., high school

The Board of Finance in East Hampton, Conn., has refused to authorize a proposed $52 million renovation of East Hampton High School. The East Hampton-Portland Patch says the decision sends the proposal back to the school building committee for revisions. Most of those opposed said the project's price tag was too high. Some members who opposed the project said they would change their vote if two components are removed: A nearly $900,000 proposal to move school board offices into the renovated high school, and a proposal to install outdoor lighting for the school's athletic fields.
