Districts in Texas may seek bond elections

Some districts in Texas are already discussing plans for large bond proposals later this year.

The Austin school board is mulling over whether to place an $889.9 million bond package on the ballot in May, The Austin American-Statesman says. The money would enable the district to build four new schools and construct additions at several existing schools, as well as other facility improvements.

In the Tyler district, the board is discussing the possibility of a $160.5 million ballot proposal in May, Tylerpaper.com says. The bond proposal would provide funds for construction of three middle schools, two elementary schools, and one career and technology center.
