Baseball donation pays for renovation at Brooklyn elementary school

The New York Mets and Major League Baseball have donated $300,000 to renovate an interior courtyard at Public School 41 in Brooklyn. The New York Daily News says the courtyard will serve 600 kids in the kindergarten to eighth-grade school, as well as a new early childhood center that will open at the school in September. The renovated space features a bright yellow-and-blue rubber floor, a gardening area and a reading corner. The renovation was among $5 million in public service projects paid for by the Mets and Major League Baseball in connection with this week's All-Star Game.
