$13.8 million needed to renovate elementary in San Juan Capistrano

San Juan Elementary, the oldest elementary school in Orange County, Calif., needs $13.8 million in upgrades and renovations, according to the Capistrano Unified District. SanJuanCapistrano Patch says the figure includes $6 million to replace half of the school's portable classrooms with permanent buildings. San Juan Elementary has severe fire-access issues. In the event of a fire, firefighters would not have access to 19,926 square feet of the school’s buildings, considered the third worst such situation in the district.
