STEM occupations projected to grow the most

Jan. 23, 2018
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts job growth from 2014 to 2024 in fields related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Schools and universities, as well as business leaders and policy makers, are placing greater emphasis on improving education in fields related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics—grouped under the umbrella acronym STEM.

One of the key motivations for bolstering STEM education is to close the gap between the number of students getting trained to work in those fields and the number of workers needed to fill those jobs. Projections show the jobs that will be created in STEM-related fields will continue to grow.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics issued a 2017 report, "STEM Occupations: Past, Present, and Future," that provides job growth projections from 2014 to 2024 for STEM-related jobs.

Here are the 10 STEM occupations projected to have the highest-percentage growth from 2014 to 2024.
