States with highest percentage public school enrollment growth, 2016 to 2017

Public school enrollment from fall 2016 to fall 2017 grew one-tenth of 1 percent.

Public school enrollment in the United States topped 50 million in fall 2017, according to figures from the National Education Association's Rankings of the States 2018 and Estimates of School Statistics 2019.

The 50,014,228 students attending public schools in fall 2017 represented an increase  of one-tenth of 1 percent compared with the fall 2016 figure of 49,965,924.

The states with the highest rate of enrollment growth from 2016 to 2017 was Nevada, whose numbers grew by 3.25 percent.
