A little more than 19 million students were enrolled in colleges and universities in the United States in fall 2016, but less than two-tenths of 1 percent of them were enrolled at institutions in Wyoming.

The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center says that Wyoming is the state with the fewest students enrolled in its degree-granting higher-education institutions: 30,837 students in fall 2016.
