College Park Academy will begin with 300 students in grades 6 and 7

The Prince George's County (Md.) School Board has approved the district's first charter school, which will open later this summer. NBC Washington says that College Park Academy in Hyattsville will house both middle and high school students. The district says 450 students have applied for just 300 openings at the school. The school plans to open to sixth and seventh graders on Aug. 19 and grow by one grade each year.
