School on Army base in Hawaii gets renovation, expansion

Hale Kula Elementary on Schofield Barracks installation is receiving a $33.2 million upgrade.

The U.S. Department of Defense and the Hawaii Department of Education are renovating and expanding Hale Kula Elementary School, which is situated on the Schofield Barracks Army installation in Honolulu. The Army says the $33.2 million project will include a new, two-story library-media center and student support center. Existing classrooms will receive new flooring, painting, ceiling fans and furniture. The project is scheduled for completion by August 2013.
