The University of Michigan is ready to begin issuing and awarding construction bids for the $16.8 million expansion and renovation of the William L. Clements Library, which houses the university's collection on early American history. Mlive.com says staff began moving the facility's vast set of collections off-site in August. The renovation of the 1920s-era building will make the American culture collection easier to see and more accessible to the public, while also adding storage for items not on display.
