The Fort Atkinson (Wis.) school district is moving forward with energy projects and upgrades at Fort Atkinson High School.
The Daily Jefferson County Union reports that officials targeted the high school building for improvements because it is the only campus in the district not being considered for a major renovation or replacement.
The district has authorized borrowing up to $3.2 million to pay for the upgrades.
The school district noticed mechanical systems at the high school were failing and needed attention.
Jason Demerath, director of business services, said the high school is more than 22 year old and starting to experience mechanical breakdowns.
The planned updates include a LED lighting retrofit, building envelope improvements, installation of de-stratification fans in high ceiling areas, replacement of the pool operations system, replacement of a boiler, and the replacement of the controls and equipment for heating and cooling the building.
The district is also replacing the chiller system, which is undersized for the facility, replacing hot water heaters; replacing faucets throughout the building and replacing the clock system.
