Bensenville, Ill., split on bailout of school district

Representatives of the Bensenville Park District, Bensenville Community Library and Fenton High School District 100 aren't sure whether bailing out financially strapped Bensenville Elementary School District 2 justifies sacrificing their own programs.

Bensenville village trustees have approved a proposed intergovernmental agreement that would give $2.2 million to School District 2 if the district explores alternatives to selling four elementary schools.

To give school officials more time to consider ways to cope with its deficit, the Bensenville Village Board on Wednesday probably will table the schools' request for the village to buy its four elementary schools.
