The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, died from injuries suffered in a crash with a salt truck on the East Lansing campus.

A student at Michigan State University driving a moped on the East Lansing campus was killed Tuesday morning in a crash involving a salt truck.

The Lansing State Journal reports that the crash occurred around 7:49 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Shaw Lane and Chestnut Road.

“The MSU community is grieving the loss of a student killed in a traffic crash involving an MSU salt truck early this morning," MSU spokesperson Emily Guerrant said in a statement. "In accordance with the family’s wishes, MSU will not be releasing the student’s name."

The MSU Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
