Pacific Lutheran is one of more than 230 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada that have registered for STARS, and the first institution to submit information for a rating.

Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash., has received a silver rating as part of the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) administered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

Pacific Lutheran is one of more than 230 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada that have registered for STARS, and the first institution to submit information for a rating.

"The advantage of STARS is that institutions can earn credits for all of their contributions to sustainability," says AASHE Executive Director, Paul Rowland. "From providing sustainability coursework, to using green cleaning products, to energy efficiency in campus buildings, there are many opportunities for a school to identify and track its sustainability progress."

Institutions taking part in the program report achievements in the areas of education and research, operations and planning, administration and engagement, and subsequently receive bronze, silver, gold or platinum ratings,
