Texas decides to close struggling school system in Premont

Premont district and San Diego district would be merged

From The Corpus Christi Caller: The state of Texas has decided to close the struggling Premont school district and combine it with a better performing district 35 miles away--the San Diego Independent School District. The Premont district has asked for a records review, effectively appealing the annexation decision. Premont residents' top priority seems to be keeping the campuses in town open, even if that means they are under the operation of a different district.
