Missouri lawmakers approved a bill that will authorize funding for capital needs on college campuses, the Associated Press reported.
The approval comes after previous rejections of bond proposals and tax increases to pay for public infrastructure projects.
The bill was one of the last to close on Friday evening before the legislature went on vacation. It allocates more than $220 million for college and university construction. Of that, $38.5 million is to come from bonds to pay for renovations and additions for an engineering building at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
The bill also includes funding for other state facilities and money for the highways and state transportation network.
