Los Angeles board votes to promote administrator to superintendent

John Deasy will begin job on April 15

From The Los Angeles Daily News: The Los Angeles Unified School Board has selected John Deasy to become the next superintendent of the nation's second-largest school district.
Deasy will receive an annual salary of $330,000 - $80,000 more than retiring Superintendent Ramon Cortines' salary. The LAUSD school board voted 6-0, with one abstention, to promote Deasy from his No. 2 post to superintendent. His three-year contract will take effect April15, when Cortines is set to retire.
