Mayor Daley wants to earmark $25 million for improvements at 15 campuses

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley wants to use $25 million generated by tax-increment financing districts to make 15 public schools accessible to students with disabilities. The City Council's Finance Committee has signed off on the idea, but not before aldermen unleashed their anger about the mayor's plan to raid their neighborhoods' TIFs.
