District would add three students per class to help close a $73 million gap

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: The DeKalb County (Ga.) district wants to increase the student-teacher ratio by three per classroom to help close a projected $73 million budget shortfall. The current maximum sizes for classes are 22 students for kindergarten; 25 students for grades 1 to 3; 35 students for grades 4 to 8; and 37 students for grades 9 to 12.
