Plano bolsters ID system for visitors

Equipment will scan driver's license, check for matches on sex offender databases

Plano (Texas) school district is spending about $130,000 on a new electronic security system that screens campus visitors using their driver's licenses or other identification. The equipment will scan a visitor's license, print out a photo identification badge and check the person's name against sex offender databases in 49 states.
