Some wonder if bigger is better at University of Central Florida

From The Orlando Sentinel: The University of Central Florida prides itself on being one of the nation's largest universities by enrollment. But is that really a good thing? Some faculty members at the 60,000-student institution say class sizes, in some cases, have nearly doubled and instructional quality has suffered. In 2010-11, UCF's student-faculty ratio was 31-to-1, the highest in Florida's public-university system. University administrators, however, argue that being big has many benefits. They point out that Central Florida offers more than 200 majors, and its research programs have attracted national recognition. And as the university has expanded, so has its impact on the Orlando area economy, drawing hundreds of thousands of people to Central Florida each year.
