Some parents feel the site is to close to a petrochemical research facility.

Wheaton Warrenville (Ill.) Unit School District 200 has approved a $7.6 million contract to buy a 19-acre site in Warrenville for the relocated Hubble Middle School. Board members have long supported the idea of moving Hubble from the 82-year-old former Wheaton Central High School building. At the same time, a group of critics who want to keep Hubble in Wheaton have alleged that district officials have exaggerated the estimated $55.7 million cost to bring the existing Hubble building up to modern standards. The group also has raised concerns about the Warrenville site's proximity to petrochemical giant BP's research campus in Naperville, and the environmental effects that BP's operations might have on the property's air, soil and water.
