Two 15-year-old female students were shot to death Friday morning at Independence High School in Glendale, Ariz.
KPNX-TV reports that each girl was shot once, and the gun used was found lying next to their bodies. The girls were found at about 8 a.m. in a covered patio area near the school's administration building. The victims were not identified, but police say each was in the 10th grade.
UPDATE: Glendale police have concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide, The Phoenix New Times reports. A suicide note was found near the bodies.
The victims were identified as Dorothy Dutiel and May Kieu. Investigators believe the girls had been in a romantic relationship.
Independence High is one of several campuses in the Glendale Union High School District. The school was on lockdown for several hours Friday after the shooting before officials released students to their parents.
