State of Michigan will not take over Hazel Park district

The Hazel Park (Mich.) school district has avoided state intervention after a panel concluded that a financial emergency does not exist in the 4,500-student school district. The Detroit News reports that the state Emergency Loan Board determined that probable financial stress does not exist in Hazel Park schools. Officials indicate they will continue to monitor the district’s progress in balancing its budgets.
