State funding boost will enable Arkansas State University to build a humanities building

Oct. 14, 2013
An additional $4 million will provide the funding needed to build a 121,000-square-foot facility

Arkansas State University in Jonesboro will receive $4 million from the state's general improvement fund to help build a new Humanities and Social Sciences building. The university says the 121,000-square-foot building will house the academic departments of Criminology, Sociology and Geography; English and Philosophy; History; Political Science; and World Languages and Cultures. Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe says the $4 million, together with a bond issue approved by the university's trustees, will enable the school to build the facility, which was identified as a high priority more than a decade ago.
