Prince George's County (Md.) district told to pay $90 million in 2009 student death

Jury finds district liable in wrongful death of girl who was killed trying to catch a school bus.

The family of a 13-year-old girl has won a $90 million judgment against the Prince George’s County (Md.) school district nearly four years she was fatally struck by a car while trying to catch a school bus. The Washington Post says Ashley Davis, who was a freshman at Crossland High School in Temple Hills, Md., died in September 2009. The family argued that the school system did not provide safe and adequate transportation for Davis to get to school.
