Penn State is installing 600 cameras on its main campus

Pennsylvania State University is installing more than 600 cameras in residence halls and dining commons on its main campus in University Park. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the $1.4 million upgrade is meant to deter theft and vandalism and increase security. The university began installing the digital video cameras last month in 60 buildings on the main campus and plans to complete the project by May. About 14,000 students live in residence halls on the University Park campus.
