Institution brings together institutions in Brownsville and Edinburg

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. That is the name for the new institution formed through the merger of University of Texas-Brownsville and the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, The San Antonio Business Journal reports. Officials sought public input on the name, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley name was a clear winner. The University of Texas South was a distant second. Earlier this year, the legislature approved creation of the new university that combines the two institutions and adds a medical school.
