Los Angeles district says it has fired more than 100 teachers because of misconduct

Under a zero-tolerance policy that Los Angeles Unified District Superintendent John Deasy enacted after the Miramonte Elementary sex-abuse scandal erupted in February 2012, the school board has voted to dismiss more than 100 teachers for misconduct, and accepted the resignations of at least 200 others who were about to be terminated. In addition, The Los Angeles Daily News reports, nearly 300 additional teachers accused of inappropriate behavior have been taken out of classrooms and remain "housed" in administrative offices while officials investigate the complaints.
