Green Ribbon Schools recipients honored in Washington, D.C.

64 schools and 14 districts are recognized for their sustainability efforts.

Sixty-four schools and 14 districts were honored in Washington, D.C., by the U.S. Department of Education for their efforts in promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. The Green Ribbon Schools and District Sustainability Award winners were recognize for steps they have taken to reduce environmental impact and costs, promote better health, and ensure effective environmental education. "These schools and districts exhibit best practices to reduce costs and increase achievement, health and equity, for all schools, not just aspiring green schools," says Education Secretary Arne Duncan.
