Georgia governor close to decision on new DeKalb County board members

March 12, 2013
The governor has ousted six members of the nine-member board because of the district's accreditation problems.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal says he expects to name six new DeKalb County school board members on Wednesday. A nominating panel has pored through the names of more than 400 candidates and interviewed 63 applicants before meeting with Deal to discuss their findings. Deal suspended two-thirds of the DeKalb board after an accrediting agency placed the district on probation.
