Estes Park (Colo.) district works to recover from damaging floods

Oct. 24, 2013
Six weeks after the flooding, schools in the district remain without sewer service.

Six weeks since flash flood devastated parts of Colorado, teachers, students, and district staff in the Estes Park district still are having to use portable toilets as they wait for sewer service to resume. The Denver Post says other problems remain: Several large parts of a concrete retaining wall around the track are still collapsed. The track remains damaged. There is water seepage in the elementary school and in the administration office. The roadway surface in and around the schools has been undermined in places and needs to be fixed. Bus routes are still in a state of flux with no bus service in certain areas.
