Delaware board votes to close charter high school

The Delaware state school board has voted to close Pencader Charter Business and Finance High School in New Castle. The Wilmington News Journal says the board acted on Delaware Secretary of Education Mark Murphy's recommendation. Murphy says Pencader’s team failed to submit a plan to address concerns raised by the state, including improving student performance, strong governance of the school, and a plan for recruitment of more students and a new school leader. The school, which opened in 2006 and has 400 students in grade 9 to 12, will close in June.
