New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has succeeded Michael Bloomberg and has named Carmen Fariña schools chancellor. The New York Times says the appointment of Fariña signals a sharp departure from the education policies of Bloomberg, who focused on test scores, closed low-performing schools in favor of charters. Two educators debate whether de Blasio should undo the reform attempts put in place under Bloomberg.
