Credit union gets naming rights to Towson University arena

Aug. 2, 2013
University will collect $4.5 million over 10 years.

SECU, the largest state-chartered credit union in Maryland, will pay $4.75 million over the next 10 years to have Towson University's new basketball facility called SECU Arena. The Baltimore Sun says money from the deal will be used to pay for projects at the $70 million, 5,200-seat arena that are not covered by the bonds issued to finance the facility. About $1 million worth of work — mainly on the sound system and scoreboards — remains.
