Construction begins on contract school in Anne Arundel County, Md.

Monarch Global Academy Public Contract School is expected to open in 2014 in Laurel, Md.

After a year delay, construction has begun on the Monarch Global Academy Public Contract School in Laurel, Md. The Baltimore Sun reports that officials expect the school to be completed and ready for students in August 2014. The K-8 school intends to accept 474 students its first year and as many as 740 by 2015.  It is expected to alleviate crowding at Brock Bridge, Maryland City and Jessup elementary schools in the Anne Arundel County district.
