The Classic Academies pays $7 million for former home of the North County Times

A charter school has bought an Escondido, Calif., building that formerly housed the North County Times newspaper. U-T San Diego, which purchased the Times last year, says it has sold the 4-acre site to The Classical Academies for $7 million. The charter organization has locations in Escondido, Vista and Oceanside. It plans to spend $20 million renovating the property and hopes to open it as a high school campus by the start of the 2014-15 school year.
