Businessman donates $250 million to Kentucky college

A former student at Centre College in Danville, Ky., has given the school $250 million — by far the largest donation to any higher education institution in Kentucky and among the largest college donations in the United States. The Louisville Courier-Journal reports that the college will receive $250 million in stock in Universal Computer Systems Holding Inc. from the A. Eugene Brockman Charitable Trust. Brockman’s son, Bob, is a former member of the Centre board of trustees. He attended Centre for two years and served until recently as chairman of the college’s Board of Trustees. He is chairman of Universal Computer Systems Holding.
