5 guilty pleas in San Diego-area school construction corruption probe

Former officials from Southwestern College and San Ysidro school district admit guilt.

Five more former officials have pleaded guilty in connection with school corruption in the San Diego area. UT San Diego reports that the most serious case involved former Southwestern College Vice President Nicholas Alioto, former college board member Jorge Dominguez and former college administrator John Wilson. Each has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of being an accessory to a crime. They admitted that they received dinners, gifts and other items from a contracting executive seeking to influence their decisions. Also, former San Ysidro school Superintendent Manuel Paul and former Southwestern College board member Yolanda Salcido have pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge each of filing a false document.
