12-year-old boy shoots 2 fellow students at Roswell, N.M., middle school

In 10 seconds, a 12-year-old student at Berrendo Middle School in Roswell, N.M., entered a gym full of students, pull out a .20-gauge shotgun, fired shots that wounded two students, put the gun down and was apprehended. The Albuquerque Journal says an 11-year-old boy was in critical condition with injuries to his face and neck, A 13-year-old girl was in satisfactory condition. Authorities say a teacher who was in the gymnasium persuaded the 12-year-old boy to put down the weapon. A state police lieutenant who was at the school dropping off his child took the boy into custody. The boy was taken to a psychiatric hospital.
